We are on the lookout for an eager-to-learn Assistant Breeder Red Beet & Swiss chard. Are you a precise, dependable, proactive go getter and someone who loves to work both with your hands and your head? Then this is the perfect opportunity for you to shine.
As our new Assistant Breeder you’ll work closely with breeders to help develop and improve our vegetable varieties -from seed to harvest. You are the vital link between planning and execution. You prepare trials, monitor growth and make selections or observations.
You won’t be doing it alone. You become part of a team with 2 breeders. By supporting the breeders in day-to-day tasks and experiments, while ensuring accurate documentation and reporting, you will cooperate in taking the Red Beet breeding program into a world leading breeding program.

Your responsibilities:
- Setting up trials — from preparing the seeds to managing everything in our breeding software
- Planning and performing DNA sampling, and making smart, data-driven selections based on genotyping results
- Sowing trials and closely monitoring plant development along the way
- Spotting plant health issues early and discussing findings with the breeding team
- Doing selection work, both in the greenhouse and out in the field — sharp eye required
- Bringing your hands-on experience and insights to the table to keep improving how we breed
To seed your future, you've got the following skills:
- A degree in plant sciences, horticulture, biology or a related field (MBO/HBO or equivalent)
- Affinity with crops and plant breeding — experience is a plus
- A sharp eye for detail and a structured way of working
- You enjoy being hands-on and solving practical challenges
- You’re comfortable in a dynamic, research-oriented environment where collaboration is key
