Technical Assistant (m/f/d) Pre-breeding Barley

For KWS LOCHOW GmbH we are looking for a committed technical employee (m/f/d) to work on projects in the field of barley pre-breeding. The aim is to prepare breeding material for the KWS barley programs in Germany, France and England. The practical work takes place outdoors and in greenhouses at the Wohlde breeding station near Bergen, in the district of Celle.
This position is to be filled full-time and initially for 3 years, with the option of a permanent contract afterwards. 
 
Your tasks:

  • Technical management and independent implementation of selected multiplication programmes as well as DNA marker-supported cross and backcrossing programmes in the field and in the greenhouse.
  • Supervision of performance tests, observation quarters and field multiplication, recording of all relevant characteristics in the field in Germany and other European countries.
  • Assistance in seed production for internal and external performance testing.
  • Documentation and processing of results, support in database maintenance.

 
Your profile:

  • Completed vocational training in the agricultural sector (LTA, ATA, LTL, PT), comparable training or equivalent professional experience
  • Broad practical experience in the processing of cereal and grass crops from crossing to commercial cultivation
  • Routine in the processing of grass and cereal crops
  • Technical understanding of the operation of sowing and harvesting technology in grain trials
  • Good knowledge of German and English
  • Willingness to travel seasonally and possibly work overtime during the high season
