We are looking to recruit - as of January 1, 2020 - a Trainee (m/f/d) for applied Genomics within our Sugar Beet Breeding department. You will support the Genomics team of KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA in Einbeck (Lower Saxony, Germany). The trainee program will comprise two years and it will focus on the application of genetic, genomic and bioinformatic tools to support marker development, marker application and breeding. In the different learning phases, you will get to know different departments at home and abroad.

 

Your tasks:

 

  • Analysis of genomics data to support marker development for specific traits in sugar beet
  • In depth analysis of target regions in the sugar beet genome
  • Maintain information in various databases, such as MS Access
  • Close interaction with colleagues from breeding, bioinformatics and molecular biology

 

 

Your profile:

 

  • University degree in agricultural or biological sciences, preferably with a focus on plant breeding
  • Experience in the application of bioinformatic tools to genomic data (Linux, CLC)
  • Strong communication skills to guarantee a smooth and constructive collaboration across department borders
  • Team-player skills and high level of commitment
  • Sound handling of MS Office and databases
  • Excellent English skills (spoken and written); Knowledge of German is a plus
  • Readiness to travel
