Aardevo B.V. is a recently formed Joint Venture between KWS SAAT and J.R. Simplot Company. In Aardevo, we fully focus on developing diploid hybrid potato varieties. With our hybrid breeding program we aim to deliver innovative and high performing potato varieties for several markets.

Our international headquarters and main breeding station is located in Nagele, The Netherlands, close to the World Potato City Emmeloord and you would join to strengthen our international breeding and R&D team.

Your tasks:

  • Plan molecular marker projects and analyze data with state-of-the-art software
  • Manage leaf sampling work flow
  • Prepare marker orders
  • Act as contact person for the marker lab at KWS Saat SE headquarter in Germany
  • Be actively involved in phenotyping of mapping populations in the field and in the glasshouse for various traits; training of technicians to assist in phenotyping
  • Create planting, crossing and harvest lists for molecular breeding projects with our breeding database
  • Analyze and interpret datasets generated with the latest molecular marker and sequencing technologies
  • Improve workflows for practical work and data analysis
  • Depending on skill and expertise: take responsibility for research project


Your profile:

  • MSc in Molecular Biology, Plant Breeding, Genetics or related field
  • Good knowledge of molecular breeding and associated techniques/technologies
  • Practical knowledge and experience in data management and molecular software tools (Excel, Access, R, or equivalent statistical software)
  • Affinity to work with big data sets, databases and R
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as a must to interact with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong communication skills in spoken and written Dutch and English
  • Ability to work in an international team
  • Self-starting and Self-disciplined
