KWS Seeds LLC. is looking for a Senior Seed Disposition & QA Supervisor to be part of our team in Tangent, OR! The Senior Seed Disposition & QA Supervisor is responsible for evaluating and advancing seed lots through each process stage to fulfill orders with desired variety, size, and treatment while meeting all quality standards and timelines and assisting the Quality Manager with all aspects of quality assurance, process improvements, and testing oversight.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicate with planning group, product development, sales group, and distribution to resolve any issues affecting the planning, timing and execution of scheduled production for their respective areas.
  • Responsible for planning to ensure the finished goods non-seeds materials are available for the production season and communicate volumes of consumption to the purchasing/planning groups.
  • Communicate the firm planned orders to the planning group.
  • Monitor work order execution to production schedule and report on any foreseen disruptions.
  • Collaborate with internal resources such as planning manager, product development, quality management and sales for the phase-in of new products and phase-out of discontinued products.
  • Continually review demand and communicate discrepancies to Quality Assurance and Planning Managers.
  • Work closely with Sales Operations to review forecast to supply and ensure a schedule that meets the requirements of both sales and manufacturing.
  • Assign shipment of finished goods to internal customers, ship seed to market to meet established timelines.
  • Fill in as Senior QC Supervisor when needed.
  • Work with processing group to assure adequate in-line checks and review results to detect issues and find solutions.
  • Serve as the liaison between sales and processing groups to identify new opportunities to improve, resolve issues, work through complaints, etc.
  • Assist Quality Manager with various tasks to include establishing QC standards and checks, leading audits and tours, trials, etc.
  • Responsible for fulfilling all Planter test stand seed requests.
  • Responsible for special request testing and reporting results for internal and external customers.
  • Assist with new process equipment selection from a seed quality perspective.
  • Maintain ERP System as related to quality functions. 
  • Assist with administration of Quality Management Systems.
  • Monitor quality and quantity at each process stage and communicate issues to processing and sales group.
  • Order new/additional QC tests as needed.
  • Monitor incoming harvest and provide direction on wet seed.
  • Lead projects to improve quality, efficiency, systems as needed.
  • Responsible for ordering appropriate tests and obtaining seed analysis certificates for Canadian seed requests.
  • Work closely with R&D, Product Management, and Sales Operations to fulfill all commercial trial seed requests.
  • Occasionally travel and/or drive on behalf of the business.
  • Ensure Company handbook, Rules, Guidelines, Procedures and safety policies are followed and personal protective equipment is used correctly.
  • Meet attendance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in STEM-related field.
  • Education + Experience = 8+ years.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 3+ years experience with ERP/LIMS systems.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in team-oriented environment.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Excellent understanding of seed quality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project related databases.
  • Understanding of process flows, line utilization, capacities, planning, etc.
  • Familiar with Quality Management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing quality-related process improvements.
  • Experience with trial design and analysis.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with field and factory production.
  • Background and interest in agriculture.

 

Working Environment:

  • Work with minimal direction by manager.

  • Work effectively individually or as a team member.

  • Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

  • Able to stand or sit for long periods of time.

  • Flexibility to work flexible shifts as needed (including weekend, swing shift, and holidays).

  • Good mobility, able to bend/twist.

  • Able to work in varied environmental conditions (loud, hot, cold, dusty, damp, etc).
