We are looking to recruit a Trials Officer at our site in Thriplow near Cambridge (UK). As part of the Trials Team you will be involved with yield trials and other plant breeding operations essential for the successful development of new varieties.

Reporting to the Trials Manager your main responsibility will be leading the Cereal Trials Operations.


Your tasks:

  • You liaise with Plant Breeders on their trial requirements.
  • You plan, prepare and drill cereal trial plots.
  • You are responsible for protection of trial plots, scoring and data collection.
  • You set up trials onto KWS database systems and present statistically analysed data to the breeders.
  • You carry out timely harvest of trial plots
  • You lead the cereal trials operations team


Your profile:

  • You have an agricultural degree or equivalent experience or qualifications including relevant trials experience and a driving license.
  • You are experienced in line management.
  • You have basic agricultural machinery experience
  • PA1, PA11, Counterbalance forklift and telehandler licenses are essential for the job role (willingness to join training if skills are not possessed yet)
  • You are trustworthy, reliable, and known for good team leadership skills and a high level of motivation.
  • In addition, good literacy, numeracy as well as knowledge of Microsoft Excel are required, knowledge of databases would be beneficial.
  • You are willing to work extended hours during harvest, drilling and other peak periods.
