KWS LOCHOW POLSKA Sp. z o.o. specializes in breeding new varieties of cereals and production of high quality seed material. Our main product is hybrid rye. Due to the continuous growth of the company we are looking for a person in the Rye Breeding Department for the position of Manager of Phenotyping and Special Breeding Projects in Hybrid Rye to join our location in Kondratowice/Poland on a full time basis.

 

Main tasks:

  • planning, organizing and carrying out phenotyping and selection work in rye
  • management of special breeding programs and projects
  • organising and carrying out field observations in field experiments, observation rows and isolation plots
  • planning and analysis of routine and special multi-environmental experimental series using company software and other software packages
  • training and coordination of plant breeding technicians in performing routine analysis of experimental series
  • organization of post-harvest processing and preparation for sowing in breeding material experiments with preparation of appropriate documentation in the database
  • supervising the work of phenotyping team technicians
  • acting as a communication interface for phenotyping and special breeding programs between rye breeding stations throughout the company

 
Requirements:

  • Master's or PhD degree in plant breeding, agricultural sciences or related field (at least three years of experience in plant breeding or as a plant breeding related research scientist preferred)
  • broad knowledge of design and analysis of breeding experiments as well as of biotechnology applied in plant breeding
  • communicative knowledge of Polish and English
  • ability to work with computers (MS Office package, databases and statistical programs)
  • readiness to further broaden professional knowledge
  • high level of commitment, flexibility and resistance to stress
  • self-reliance in thinking and working
  • ability to lead a team and cooperate in a group
  • readiness to travel domestically and internationally
