The KWS Cereals team is looking for an Animal Nutrition Manager! The primary responsibility of this role is to introduce and establish hybrid rye into the livestock feed sector to encourage long-term viability for livestock and market agricultural nutrition. The role will be responsible for initiating and developing relationships with prospective customers along with continuing to deepen relationships with established customers to discover/create opportunities to meet customer needs. The aim will be to identify key partners for the feed value chain that are ideal for expansion of hybrid rye in the livestock feed industry.

  

Essential Job Functions:

  • Act as the primary contact to the entire feed industry in the United States, and network with feed producers and traders, to promote agricultural animal nutrition at feed mills and to livestock producers.
  • Monitor feed market trends to identify and implement strategies for promoting hybrid rye.
  • Retain and expand strong working relationships with strategic partners, while building cross functional relationships in new markets..
  • Introduce new business, generate profitable new accounts, and target new accounts by identifying and recommending new technologies and new market opportunities related to the needs of the customer.
  • Coordinate feed trials and feeding research as needed within the regions of interest and effectively communicate the results throughout the industry and company.
  • Drive and create interest for farmers to demonstrate the benefits of growing hybrid rye to feed livestock using articles, presentations, training sessions and special events.
  • Gather data to prove the economic benefits of the product for incorporating hybrid rye into the feed value chain.
  • Provide accurate feeding recommendations using hybrid rye for livestock feeding.
  • Act as a liaison with staff in Canada and Europe, ensuring best practices are shared with the various business units within the organization.
  • Travel and/or drive on behalf of the business.
  • Meet attendance requirements.
  • Ensure the Company handbook, Rules, Guidelines and Procedures, and safety policies are followed, and personal protective equipment is used correctly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Animal Science, with an emphasis on animal nutrition, or a similar field relevant to the position.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills.
  • Two or more years of experience of sales and livestock nutrition advisement.
  • A strong technical understanding of livestock nutrition.
  • Ability to work independently, with a willingness to embrace change.
  • Ability to travel domestically at least 50% with some international travel included.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • The ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in Agriculture or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in feed consulting, sales, extension or similar.  
  • Experience with SalesForce and SAP.

Working Environment:
Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as needed. Able to work indoor/outdoor in varied environmental conditions (loud, hot, cold, dusty, damp, etc.). Overnight travel as needed, including international travel.
