Do you want to play a key role in shaping the future of agriculture through data?
At KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA, we are looking for a motivated Data Governance Analyst to shape the future of sustainable agriculture in the R&D Digital Product & Technology Development team at the earliest convenience. The position is full-time, permanent, and based at our headquarters in Einbeck (Lower Saxony). It is a unique opportunity to grow in data governance, even if it is new to you.

You will be part of our Data Governance Office, helping transform how data is managed and used across our global breeding system. Together, we develop and maintain the digital backbone of the KWS Breeding System. The Data Governance Office works closely with product managers and software engineers to ensure robust, reliable, and interoperable data management. In this position, you will play a comprehensive role in data governance, while your main focus will be on Tools & Technology.

How can you contribute to the team:

  • Help design and roll out our Data Governance Program, making data FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable).
  • Partner with scientists, engineers, and product managers to define standards and policies that make research data more reliable.
  • Work hands-on with metadata systems, catalogs, and classification models to build the digital backbone of plant breeding.
  • Support data quality initiatives that break silos and bring datasets together for real-world impact.
  • Advocate data governance principles and coach colleagues through training and awareness.
  • Collaborate with external providers to bring in the right tools and technologies.

Which strengths will help you in this position:

  • University degree or equivalent certification in statistics, data management, or a related field, plus hands-on experience in data governance.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, roles & responsibilities, metadata/cataloguing tools, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to change, and drive topics forward.
  • Clear and effective communication skills – you will be part of a cross-functional project team.
  • Commitment and curiosity: willingness to challenge processes, bring ideas, and contribute to the future of data governance at KWS.
  • Strong communication skills in fluent English language.
  • A growth mindset: willingness to develop competencies and pursue a career in data governance, with availability to participate in further training.

What you can look forward to:

  • A motivated and collegial team that values open communication and mutual support
  • Exciting and varied tasks in an innovative, international working environment
  • Individual development opportunities through professional training and certifications
  • As a family-owned company, we live by our values: closeness, reliability, independence, and foresight
  • We create the right framework conditions for you: a permanent employment contract, attractive collectively agreed remuneration (including annual employee participation, Christmas and vacation bonus with 30 days' vacation), financial benefits (company pension scheme, capital-forming benefits, subsidized canteen, childcare allowance, job bike, etc.), excellent work equipment and flexible working hours with the option of (partially) mobile working (hybrid working model)!
