Become part of our motivated team in Einbeck and embark on an exciting journey as a Research Scientist (m/f/d) in Breeding Technologies in Maize! In this full-time position with a permanent employment contract, based in Einbeck (Lower Saxony, Germany), you have the opportunity to have a significant impact on the development and application of innovative methods to enhance abiotic stress resistance in maize hybrids. 

 

Your responsibilities: 

  • Develop, evaluate, and implement digital phenotyping and envirotyping methods to improve complex traits in maize and to optimize breeding strategies. 

  • Collaborate with various teams of scientists and technicians working with international breeders, biostatisticians, molecular geneticists, and station managers 

  • Plan, conduct, analyze, and evaluate maize field trials in Europe and the USA 

  • Actively participate in research and technology development projects to enhance maize breeding techniques 

 

Your profile: 

 

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in plant breeding, digital phenotyping, or a related field 

  • Strong knowledge in plant breeding methodology, quantitative genetics, and field trial analytics 

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software, preferably R, for data analysis and interpretation 

  • Experience in conducting field trials in plant breeding, proven expertise in trial planning, data collection, and analysis 

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: phenomics, environmental characterization, plant physiology, agronomy, would be advantageous 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders from different teams 

  • High degree of initiative, independence, reliability, and flexibility in simultaneously handling multiple tasks and projects 

  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German is advantageous 

  • Willingness to travel (up to 25% of the time) for field trials and collaboration meetings
