We are seeking to recruit, at the earliest opportunity, a Scientist (m/f/d) Trait integration (TI) and speed breeding to coordinate the global maize native trait integration programs and speed breeding research activities. This vacancy is on a full-time and permanent basis.

You will work in the Breeding Technologies Application maize and oilseed crops team at our headquarter in Einbeck, Germany.


Your tasks:


  • Develop a concept for speed breeding in maize in the context of TI allowing to maximize cycles p.a. under indoor conditions
  • Plan, coordinate and evaluate the integration of maize native traits into elite germplasm on different production sites in Europe and South America
  • Coordinate and monitor Key-Performance-Indicators (KPIs) of the global maize native TI activities
  • Optimize and implement processes and TI schemes to increase efficiency (time, throughput, and cost) and quality of TI on different stations
  • Lead and/or work in multi-disciplinary projects to address research questions and deliver integrated breeding technologies solutions supporting germplasm and trait development
  • Monitor patent and publications to innovate the activities and ensure Freedom to Operate (FTO) compliance for speed breeding and TI
  • Work in an international team of plant breeders and geneticists


Your profile:


  • Master or doctoral degree in agronomy, plant breeding or genetics with practical experience in molecular-marker application.
  • Knowledge and experience in designing, performing, and analyzing experiments in field or in greenhouse.
  • Experience with TI and greenhouse activities is a plus
  • Knowledge on programming in R or any other programming language for statistical data analysis is desirable
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills in English. German, Spanish or Portuguese is appreciated
  • Team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel about 20 % of working time
