We are looking for a scientist (m/f/d) for marker application in the Breeding Technology Application Corn and Oilseed Crops department from October 1, 2021. This position will be based within KWS Saat SE & Co. KGaA on a permanent and full-time basis at the headquarters in Einbeck / Lower Saxony. 

 

Your new challenge: 

 

  • Service oriented application of molecular markers within hybrid breeding programs for corn and oilseed crops (worldwide)
  • Planning of laboratory orders, sampling, analysis and interpretation of genotyping data as well as reporting of results to customers
  • Contribute to the expansion of standardization and automation of marker application processes worldwide
  • Conduct training for the implementation of the processes at the international breeding stations
  • Participate in project teams between breeding and research for development of tools and technologies to increase efficiency in marker application and management of molecular marker data 

 

Contribute your skills: 

 

  • University degree (Diploma, M.Sc. or PhD) in biology or agricultural sciences with a focus on breeding and molecular genetics or comparable. 
  • Experience in the analysis of genotypic data and/or use of genotypic data for selection
  • Experience working with large data sets and programming in R is a plus
  • Passion for process excellence and service-oriented operations
  • Think across departments and appreciate diversity as a strength of a team
  • Very good communication skills in English are required and other language skills (ideally German) are an advantage 
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
