We are looking for a full-time, permanent Software Developer (m/f/d) for a scientific Data Lakehouse to strengthen an existing development team within KWS Saat SE & Co. KGaA in Einbeck, Lower Saxony, as soon as possible. After an onboarding phase we could align on remote work within Germany,
We are looking for a Software Developer to integrate newly developed software into our existing landscape. The applications are an integral part of plant breeding and molecular biology at various international KWS locations. You will strengthen an experienced SCRUM team and work hand in hand with a long-standing Product Owner from the field of molecular biology. Previous knowledge in plant breeding and genetics is not mandatory, as this will be provided by the subject matter experts in the project.
Your tasks:
You are convinced that understanding technical context is a prerequisite for efficient and effective software development. In workshops, you will analyze the business domain together with the subject matter experts. Based on this, you will design and implement a suitable software solution in close collaboration with the users, based on .NET and cloud technologies. Initially, you will support the existing team in implementing the backend. Together with an experienced Data Architect, you will master the migration of a relational system to the designed Data Lakehouse. Your team will implement new or existing interfaces and services for the data and will later be responsible for both the backend and an end-user frontend. At the same time, you will ensure the smooth operation of the legacy system. By applying modern DevOps techniques, you will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the software.
Your profile:
- University degree in computer science or a comparable qualification
- Very good knowledge of C# and ASP .Net Core
- Practical experience with Data Warehouses and Data Lakes, for example with Databricks or AWS Athena and open table formats like Apache Iceberg
- Practical experience in professional software development (e.g., Dependency Injection, Mocking, TDD, CI/CD Pipelines)
- Very good knowledge of web technologies (CSS, HTML5, JavaScript)
- Confident handling of relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and AWS-based technologies in general
- Confident handling of Azure DevOps, Jira or GitLab, and GIT versioning and agile working methods (SCRUM)
- Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is desirable, experience with graph databases is a plus
- Fluent English and German language skills required
