Are you ready to contribute to the development of methods for the monitoring of plant pests and diseases in the agriculture of the future?  

 

If so, we have a place for you as a Technical Assistant (m/f/d) Pest and Disease Monitoring at the headquarters of KWS SAAT SE & Co KGaA in Einbeck, Germany.
As a member of Phytopathology, you will provide technical support to implement plant pest and disease monitoring protocols. This involves collecting samples, documenting observations, setting up and supervising insect traps, annotating pictures, and other diverse field, lab or desk tasks. 
 
This is a full-time, permanent position to be filled as soon as possible. 
 
Your responsibilities:

  • Support with monitoring and sample collection of insects, fungi, viruses, and bacteria in the field and greenhouse in Germany and Europe during the season 
  • Setup and supervise insect traps and environmental sensors
  • Support with data management, documentation, and reporting of procedures and observations
  • Proactive communication with different teams across the company

 
Bring in your strengths

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in agricultural or related biological sciences with basic knowledge of entomology and plant diseases
  • Fluency in English, and good knowledge of German
  • Driving license and willingness to travel extensively especially during spring to autumn (50%)
  • Independent, proactive, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Flexibility, a problem-solving attitude, empathy, and intercultural awareness
  • Effective customer-oriented communication and excellent teamwork skills
