We are now looking for an experienced Pepper Breeder to kick-start and lead our Turkish-type pepper breeding programmes in Antalya, Türkiye. This is a unique opportunity shaping pepper breeding programs quickly into commercial success, with the support of a global R&D network and the long term stability of KWS. 

This position is full-time and unlimited.

Your tasks:

• Develop and manage the breeding programmes for the Turkish-type pepper segments  
• You use, innovate and optimize breeding schemes by using state-of-the-art breeding technologies for the development and selection of high-quality commercial successful varieties.
• You cooperate with internal groups of breeding, research, product development and production.
• You bring your ideas and support scientific research projects.
• Manage, direct, and coordinate activities for competent employees and ensure an efficient and effective functioning breeding team

Your profile:

• You hold a PhD or master’s degree with a focus on plant breeding
• Preferably min. 5 years’ experience in a vegetable breeding program
• You have gained good knowledge in quantitative genetics, plant pathology, breeding methodology and the pepper vegetable market
• Fluency in English and Turkish (written and spoken) is required
• The ability to work (assessment, selection) under field conditions is common ground for you
• You are known to be a strong communicator and a team player with excellent organizational and analytical skills
• You have the ability to work in an international team of breeders and scientists
• You have the willingness and flexibility for business trips
• Valid B class driver's license
