Aardevo started in 2019 as a joint venture between KWS SAAT, a global player in seed breeding, and J.R. Simplot Company, one of the largest potato processors in the world. InAardevo, the full focus lies on developing diploid hybrid potato varieties. With a growing international team, we are building on a program that has been under development since 2012. With hybrid breeding technology, our aim is to drastically accelerate the development of new potato varieties: Aardevo is working on a new future for potato breeding and cultivation. Our Hybrid Potato Breeding Team is seeking at the earliest opportunity a Hybrid Potato Breeder (m/f) on a full-time basis, located at the Aardevo headquarter in Nagele (NL).


As breeder at Aardevo, you contribute to the growth and development of our young hybrid potato breeding pipeline. You take responsibility in planning and setting up trials and you assist in the collection and statistical analysis of breeding data. With the collected information, you are able to select variety components. Furthermore, you play a crucial role in the conceptual development and improvement of breeding methods and techniques for hybrid potato. You are part of the hybrid potato breeding team and collaborate closely with technicians, breeders and scientists.


You enjoy walking the fields just as analysing data. You are eager to learn, and working on an innovative breeding concept triggers your creativity. You are a pragmatic team player.

  • M.Sc. in plant breeding, agronomy or related field
  • Practical knowledge of designing and analysing field trials
  • Knowledge of agronomy and plant production, preferably potato
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office and familiarity with standard statistical software and databases
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English language, Dutch would be an asset
