We are looking for a highly motivated Test Station Technician to join our team in Piura, Peru. In this role, you will support operational activities across our research and seed production programs, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and compliance. You will play a key role in sunflower, sorghum, and maize breeding and seed production activities while contributing to the success of our research initiatives.


Your Responsibilities

 

•    Support operational activities to achieve station objectives while maintaining strict quality and efficiency standards.
•    Monitor the vegetative development of crops and provide timely alerts and recommendations for corrective actions.
•    Serve as the station's CLP responsible, coordinating planting activities, field inspections, sampling, and field releases.
•    Support the development and maintenance of field maps using Field Explorer.
•    Manage and control physical inventory of materials used in hybridization and harvesting activities for sunflower and sorghum programs.
•    Ensure proper labeling of maize increase programs and sunflower and sorghum programs before, during, and after hybridization processes.
•    Supervise hybridization activities for maize, sunflower, and sorghum breeding programs.
•    Lead harvest planning activities throughout the year, considering irrigation schedules, moisture measurements, and operational priorities.
•    Utilize Business Intelligence tools such as Power Apps and Power BI to support data-driven decision-making and operational processes.
•    Propose, implement, and monitor compliance with policies, objectives, procedures, and operational methods.
•    Contribute to the development of new processes, techniques, operational manuals, and work instructions.
•    Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and support additional operational activities as required.
•    Comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, internal policies, and workplace safety standards.

 

Your Profile


•    Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in nurseries, seed production, or research-related agricultural operations.
•    Advanced knowledge of maize hybridization techniques, with strong expertise in sunflower and sorghum breeding programs.
•    Proven experience leading operational teams and managing field resources.
•    Strong knowledge of digital tools including Excel, SAP, Power BI, and Power Apps.
•    Intermediate English proficiency.
•    Valid A1 driver's license.
•    Additional studies or certifications related to agriculture are highly valued.
•    Physical capability to perform intensive field work during peak periods such as flowering and harvest.
•    Flexibility to work outside standard office hours during high-demand seasons.
•    Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across different stations.
