At Semillas KWS Chile LDTA, we are looking for a Sugarbeet and Vegetables R&D Project Lead (m/f/d), this position provides support to the seed production project and validation of sugarbeet, spinach and bean disease resistance trials at the Rancagua station.  Mainly in planning and execution activities to ensure the production of seed with physical, phytosanitary, genetic and physiological quality and in sufficient quantities established by the breeding programs. This is a full-time and unlimited contract role.

 

 

You responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage resources and work tools necessary for the development of activities
  • Coordinate and supervise agronomic activities related to the development of the program such as: soil preparation, irrigation and fertilization, agrochemical applications, certifying the quality and efficiency of the work according to established protocols.
  • Ensure the quality, purity and traceability of seed production in activities such as planting, leaf sampling, flowering, harvesting, drying, selection and export.
  • Lead and supervise the team in charge, establishing goals and objectives aligned with the Station's strategy
  • Evaluate individual and collective performance of the team, providing constructive feedback
  • Develop department budgets, cost analysis and accompanying expenses (Quarterly financial reports).
  • Evaluate resistance tests for different types of diseases
  • Maintain transparent and accessible phytosanitary records in the database platforms used by  department specialized in Sugarbeet.
  • Implementation of HSE (Health, Environment and Safety) regulations.
  • Comply with the company's COMPLIANCE policies
  • Promote actions for continuous improvement of operational processes, using appropriate methods to identify opportunities, implement sustainable solutions over time and measure impact.
  • Develop and implement performance indicators to optimize the use of resources (Man Hours / OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) / Inputs), as well as respond to customer requirements (external and internal).
  • Continuous and assertive communication with other research stations for the adaptation of new technologies or protocol updates.
  • Produce seeds required by KWS internal customers under standards and procedures that ensure the required quality and quantity (KPIs established for each activity).
  • Efficiencies of production processes: OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

 

 

Your profile:

  • Graduate agronomist, desirable with specialization and interest in seed production, plant physiology, biology or related areas
  • Preferably with 3 to 5 years of experience in corn and/or vegetable seed production by hand pollination.
  • Agronomic knowledge in annual crop production, manual hybridization, precision agriculture, phytopathology, entomology and phytosanitary management.
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in interacting with different levels of the organization.
  • Management and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of other data analysis software is desirable.
  • Advanced English (fluent in writing, reading and conversation).
  • Ability to collect data, analyze information and prepare reports to external and internal clients.
  • Driver's license (category B, category D desirable)
