We are looking for a Group Lead (m/f/d) of Plant Genome Modification Service on a permanent, full-time contract at KWS SAAT SE & Co KGaA, located either in Einbeck, Germany, or our Gateway Research Center (GRC) St. Louis, MO, USA. You will lead an international service team responsible for production of transformed and genome edited crop plants of different species. You will be accountable for relentless delivery of internal customer orders, the implementation of new service modules, and the long-term team strategy.
 


What you can expect to do:

  • Be the single point of contact for all genome modification services for internal and external customers.
  • Be the process owner from accepting orders from customers to delivery of modified seeds to customers.
  • Lead a team of tissue culture experts.
  • Manage interfaces to other internal and external support functions, e.g. construct design, molecular analyses, greenhouses etc
  • Closely interact with research teams to adopt new service modules, steer growth of the team
  • Manage resources and budgets.
  • Implement efficiency gains and cost reduction; monitor external providers incl benchmarking.
  • Foster an open and stimulating working atmosphere, support the professional and personal development of team members.

 
Bring in your strengths:

  • University degree in biology or related sciences plus multi-years experiences in industry and / or academia.
  • Own hands-on working experience in plant cell and molecular biology.
  • Demonstrated service mindset and strong customer focus, experience in managing workflows with clear milestones and KPIs.
  • Distinct leadership experience preferably of service teams.
  • Proficient English language skills, basic German is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
