Come join the team located at our Tangent, Oregon seed production facility. We are currently looking for a Pre-Commercial Seed Processing Operator, who will support pre-commercial plant operations, warehouse activities and various personnel ensuring that the best quality of seed is produced and processed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operate all seed processing equipment from initial receiving of incoming product from the fields through packaging of the finished product including cleaning equipment, gravity tables, sizing, rotary’s, dryers, coloring and chemical application equipment, and packaging
- Follow procedures, properly document cleanouts and processing steps/checks/weights, avoid contamination, and ensure product is labeled correctly
- Ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Drive forklift to move inventory, pallets, etc
- Train and lead seasonal processing crews in seed processing functions, make decisions in the supervisor’s absence and take ownership for the product produced
- Wear required Personal Productive Equipment (PPE) as needed and ensure PPE is used correctly
- Cross-train in other positions to meet business demands
- Develop and maintain respectful working relationships with all departments
- Ensure Company Handbook, Group Standards and safety policies are followed
- Occasionally travel and/or drive on behalf of the business
- Meet attendance requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong technical skills
- Ability to use warehouse management tools, including shipping via UPS and FedEx software
- MS Office intermediate proficiency
- Flexibility to work variable shifts including rotating shifts as needed
- Able to become forklift certified
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with seed processing equipment and seed quality
- Experience with production and planning systems/tools – ERP, MES, HMI
- Strong computer skills
- Leadership and training experience
- Familiarity with proper sampling techniques
- General working and mechanical knowledge
