We are currently looking for a Seed Processing Supervisor, who will be responsible for supervising plant operations and personnel with a strong attention to safety, quality and efficiency.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for overall quality, efficiencies of production flow, on floor operations and personnel.
  • Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded while meeting capacity and safety requirements.
  • Responsible for supervising, training and cross-training KWS and seasonal employees in machine operations, in-line quality checks and cleanouts. 
  • Ensure personnel have the proper information, training and tools.
  • Determine daily duties to be performed and select the best qualified candidates for those duties.
  • Operate manufacturing software such as MES, SCADA or HMI. 
  • Hold regular meetings with employees within your departments to discuss issues, performance, needs and concerns.
  • Develop and maintain respectful working relationships with all departments.
  • Conduct Employee Supervisor Dialogue annually.
  • Develop and update SOPs.
  • Responsible for light to medium level of Preventative Maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot quality, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and computer issues.
  • Responsible for facility housekeeping.
  • Investigate root cause analysis, including quality issues, equipment breakdowns/malfunctions, etc.
  • Ensure Company handbook, RGPs and safety policies are followed and personal protective equipment is used correctly.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as needed. 
  • Work variable work hours as needed. 
  • Occasionally travel and/or drive and/or operate a forklift on behalf of the business. 
  • Meet attendance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 + years or equivalent combination of education and experience gained in industrial business sector required
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership, communication, organizational and training skills.
  • Strong technical skills. 
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to work variable work hours as needed. 
  • Able to become forklift certified.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in agriculture with consideration given to other credentials and relevant work history.
  • Experience working with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software. 
  • General working and mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to train others to operate HMI interfaces. 

 

Working Environment:

Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as needed. Work in high and precarious places and able to cover multiple areas including staircases safely and quickly. Able to work in varied environmental conditions (loud, hot, cold, dusty, damp, etc). Flexibility to work rotating shifts as needed (including weekend, night shift, and holidays). Ability to work individually and within a team setting.
