KWS Seeds LLC. is looking for a Seed Trials Supervisor to join the team in Tangent, OR. The Seed Trials Supervisor designs, executes, analyzes, and coordinates with stakeholders on seed trial research projects under the direction of the Applied Technology Manager to improve seed selection and production technologies.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design laboratory experiments and field trials to analyze seed selection, production technologies, and genetics:
    • Prepare lab supplies and seed samples; clean glassware and equipment; operate machinery; prepare chemicals; maintain lab cleanliness.
    • Maintain an organized inventory of seed samples.
    • Analyze results from field trials and lab experiments.
  • Perform and supervise field data collection:
    • Coordinate with field production department about other trials and best practices.
    • Determine critical data for field staff to record, ensuring effective comparison of seed quality and yield against growing conditions and agronomic practices.
  • Conduct seed processing for experiments and trials, including seed conditioning, building-up, priming, chemical-coating, and packaging using processing machinery.
  • Recommend agronomic practices to achieve desired seed attributes based on trial results.
  • Supervise technicians assisting in seed trial activity.
  • Communicates with stakeholders about seed trials.
  • Support team members in executing research projects during non-peak seasons.
  • Assess the effectiveness of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Ensure generated data aligns with established testing methods across departments.
  • Create, maintain, and train staff on all relevant SOPs.
  • Train new hires and associates on procedures and safety protocols
  • Adhere to safety regulations, MSDS, and SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with the company handbook, rules, guidelines, procedures, and safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Specifications: 

  • Bachelor degree in a life science field or equivalent work experience.
  • Master’s Degree (preferred).
  • 3+ years’ experience in related field (preferred).
  • Strong skills in Windows based applications.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insight from data sets.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with their applications.
  • Experience visualizing and presenting data for stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership, communication, organizational and training skills.
  • Ability to design, prepare, execute, analyze, and communicate about seed trials.
