This key position combines technical management, team leadership, and hands-on work in both open fields and greenhouses, directly contributing to the development of high-quality seeds for the agriculture of the future.

Role Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to oversee agronomic management and general maintenance at our Gran Canaria research station. We are looking for a candidate with strong technical expertise and leadership skills to manage mainly maize and sunflower crops, both in open-field conditions and in high-precision controlled environments.

Your Responsibilities

• Crop Management: Supervise agronomic activities in breeding programs, including soil preparation, irrigation management, fertilization, and control of pests, diseases, and weeds.
• Greenhouse Specialization: Oversee crop development in controlled greenhouses with varying levels of technology, managing integrated fertigation systems and climate control to optimize production conditions.
• Leadership: Supervise and train team members to ensure efficient and correct execution of all activities.
• Planning and Analysis: Plan, implement, and continuously analyze all agronomic practices at the research station.
• Maintenance: Manage the cleaning and maintenance of the farm, buildings, wells, greenhouses, and agricultural machinery.
• Management and Reporting: Provide progress reports, plan procurements, and control costs within the assigned area.
• Safety: Actively participate in the implementation and monitoring of health and safety policies at the station.

Your Profile

• Education: Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Technician qualification, or equivalent training.
• Leadership: Proven prior experience leading teams is essential.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in agriculture; experience in maize seed research is considered an advantage.
• Languages: Working knowledge of English is desirable (minimum B1 level).
• Digital Skills: User-level proficiency in office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and willingness to learn KWS-specific crop management software.
• Personal Competencies: Independence, proactivity, commitment, responsibility, flexibility, and strong team communication skills.
• Requirement: Valid Class B driving license.
