For our Seed Research Team at KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA in Einbeck, Lower Saxony, Germany, we are looking for a Scientist Seed Research (m/f/d) on a permanent full-time basis.

Your field of activity and responsibility
- Identify and evaluate key factors influencing field emergence performance across KWS-relevant crops.
- Develop innovative methods to predict and improve field emergence performance and optimize seed production processes to enhance seed quality.
- Conduct research on seed physiology, germination physiology, vigour, and seedling establishment to improve seed performance.
- Generate scientific expertise and background information on seed physiology, seed germination, and seed quality.
- Translate scientific findings and testing concepts into practical applications for seed production and seed technology.
- Coordinate and support internal and external research collaborations on physiological, molecular, and seed biology topics.
- Monitor scientific literature, emerging technologies, and intellectual property developments relevant to seed research.
- Assess and implement new technologies, methodologies, and equipment to advance seed research and testing capabilities.
- Develop selection criteria, molecular markers, and other tools to support variety development and seed performance improvement.
- Analyse experimental data, document research findings, and communicate results to relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate laboratory activities, including equipment management, procurement of consumables, laboratory safety, and compliance-related documentation.
Bring in your strengths
- University degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, especially in plant and / or seed technology and / or seed physiology, or a related discipline; a PhD is an advantage.
- Practical experience in basic research, seed physiology, and germination physiology
- Experience in assay development for routine applications.
- Good knowledge of current analytical techniques relevant to seed research.
- Basic understanding of statistics, molecular biology, and coding (e.g. R).
- Interest in AI-supported tools and innovative research methods.
- Ability to work independently, creatively, and in a goal-oriented manner.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to continuously expand scientific and technical expertise.
- Fluent English language skills; basic German language skills are a plus.
