We are seeking for a Senior Research Associate (f/m/d) in molecular plant breeding full time and limited to 2 years. You will work in the breeding technology team for maize and oilseed crops at KWS SAAT SE & Co KGaA in Einbeck, Germany.

Your tasks:

  • Performance of sequence-alignments and -assemblies for detection of sequence variants for molecular marker development
  • Service oriented application of molecular markers within hybrid breeding programs for corn and oilseed crops (worldwide) 
  • Coordination and performance of greenhouse programs for sampling of plant material for molecular genetics experiments
  • Planning of laboratory orders, sampling, analysis and interpretation of genotyping data as well as reporting of results to customers 
  • Contribute to the expansion of standardization and automation of internal databases for genotyping processes and trait development

 

Contribute your skills: 

  • University degree (Diploma, Bachelor, M.Sc.) in biology or agricultural sciences with a focus on breeding and molecular genetics or comparable. 
  • Experience in the analysis of next generation sequencing data and genotypic data
  • Knowledge and practical experience in plant molecular biology and bioinformatics
  • Practical experience in plant growth and -sampling in the greenhouse
  • Experience working with large data sets and programming in R is a plus
  • Passion for process excellence, service-oriented operations and good proactive planning and task-management
  • Think across departments and appreciate diversity as a strength of a team
  • Very good communication skills in English are required and other language skills (ideally German) are an advantage
