At Semillas KWS Chile LDTA, we are looking for a Nursery Lead (m/f/d) for the area of Longavi, in the city of Linares, VII region of Maule, with the responsibility of performing all activities related to the production of different genetic materials and/or research programs in corn crops according to the breeding strategy of the company.  This role is full time and unlimited contract.

 

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage resources and work tools necessary for the development of the activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise agronomic activities related to the development of the program such as: soil preparation, irrigation and fertilization, agrochemical applications, certifying the quality and efficiency of the work according to the established protocols.
  • Ensure the quality, purity and traceability of seed production in activities such as planting, leaf sampling, flowering, harvesting, drying, selection and export.
  • Lead and supervise the team in charge, establishing goals and objectives aligned with the Station's strategy. Evaluate individual and collective performance of the team, providing constructive feedback.
  • Develop department budgets and cost analysis.
  • Implementation of HSE (Health, Environment and Safety) regulations.
  • Comply with the company's COMPLIANCE policies.
  • Promote actions for continuous improvement of operational processes, using appropriate methods to identify opportunities, implement sustainable solutions over time and measure impact.
  • Develop and implement performance indicators to optimize the use of resources (Man Hours / OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) / Inputs), as well as respond to customer requirements (external and internal).
  • Continuous and assertive communication with other research stations for adaptation of new technologies or protocol updates.
  • The job requires extended hours during the week and working weekends during temporary workload peaks.
  • Produce seed required by KWS internal customers under standards and procedures that ensure the required quality and quantity (KPIs established for each activity).
  • Service satisfaction level requested (KWS internal customer survey).
  • Cost analysis and tracking of expenses (quarterly financial reports).
  • Efficiencies of productive processes: OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)

 

 

Your competencies:

  • Ability to lead teams and interact with different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate tasks.
  • Analytical capacity (priority analysis, logical criteria, common sense and critical thinking).
  • Innovation and problem solving skills.
  • Agronomic knowledge in annual crop production and precision agriculture.
  • Dynamic and proactive. Ability to understand processes and systems.
  • Bilingual communication, negotiation skills.

 

 

Your profile:

  • Graduate Agronomist Engineer, desirable with specialization and interest in seed production, plant physiology, biology or related areas.
  • Preferably with 3 to 5 years of experience in corn seed production.
  • Practical experience in research activities (R&D).
  • Experience in team management
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and other data analysis software.
  • Intermediate/advanced English (fluent writing, reading and speaking),
  • Ability to collect data, analyze information and prepare reports to external and internal clients.
  • Driver's license (category B, desired category D)
