We are looking for an Agricultural Research Intern and in this position, you will support the research activities for sugar beet seed developments. You will assist with the overall management of research plots and develop operational knowledge in the area of seed research. The position is located in Ogden, UT.
Essential job functions:
- Assist in seed production field trials, such as planting, fertilizing, water, weeding, pollen/flower matching, and harvest.
- Use multiple seed cleaning machines and work independently after trained.
- Work alongside other interns and temporary staff.
- Assist in tissue sampling.
- Work in outdoor summer conditions. Able to work in environments that have pollen or dust present.
- Work non-standard hours as needed.
- Assist with station and warehouse general tasks.
- Travel and/or drive on behalf of the business.
- Meet attendance requirements.
- Other duties as needed by the business.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Strong computer skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience working independently.
- Strong problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills.
- Able to work weekends and varying hours.
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to travel.
Preferred qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Associate Degree program pursuing Agriculture, Agronomy, Soil Sciences, Horticulture or related field.
- Basic farm and crop science knowledge
- Experience operating farm equipment.
- Experience in agriculture research.

Working environment:
Perform outdoor and indoor work in variable conditions including heat, cold, dust wind, and rain. Field and farm with exposure to pollen and handling chemicals. Hours will vary based on the needs of the business and working more than a 40-hour work week may be required.
